I've had problems with pinched nerves in my shoulders.

When I do military or bench presses I try not to have my elbows drop below my shoulders. This is easy enough to monitor during the military press by looking in the mirror but I haven't figured out anything for the bench press. Anyone have a any suggestion?

(I wouldn`t recommend the thumbless grip though.)

Other than that... you should perhaps work on "feeling" the proper height, when doing the Bench Press.

And before you start anything of that you should check your form when doing Bench Press... perhaps you could change your technique into a more shoulder-friendly version...

Do you have the same problems when doing Dips? Or other excercises?

Just make sure that your elbows form a 90 degree angle when doing a benchpress and that's it. Practice makes it perfect.

Make sure when you are doing bench press that your arms aren't flared out to the sides as this puts a lot of stress through the should joint. The upper arm should be at about 45 degrees to the torso.

Also you could use a bench press with safety rests either side and set these to a height that doesn't let you elbows drop below shoulder level, thats what I use and it works well when I have sore shoulders.

Why are you limiting your ROM? Do you have limited shoulder mobility?
