Back squat vs Front squat 85% ratio

Per an article by Christian Thibaudeau at T-Nation entitled "Know your Ratios" (I'm not allowed to post links yet) the front squat should be 85% of the back squat. Does that sound right to people here?

I am trying to determine if that may be a weakness in my squat.

I'd also be curious if people have other thoughts abotu his ratios. I would like to make sure as I build strength I do not create other issues due to imbalances.

I believe the more experienced and well-rounded you are the close those ratios are to reality. If you've never front squatted before you'll have a hard time squatting 85% of your backsquat, obviously.

Right for whom? All that stuff is subjective. What is your body type, what are you training for, what are you physical limitations, etc.? I really like CT, but there is no reference other than he says for athletes. I can tell you that bodybuilders don't give two skunk farts about ratios - they want to know how to get bigger, leaner and fill out their weak areas. Powerlifters don't give two skunk farts about ratios either - they want to know how to get three white lights in the squat, bench and deadlift. I have a friend with fused vertebre who won't ever back squat again.

As a general rule of thumb, I have faith CT is pretty close to the mark. Is my goal ever going to be ratios, absolutely not. So I would file it away as good information and then not worry about it.
