dipping belt

my gym used to have one of those belts you can attach weight plates to for chins dips etc, but some idiot broke it. Does anyone know of a good brand/model available in the UK. Thanks.

I got mine from Powerhouse about 4 years ago and still goes strong and loaded up regularly (I've had to change the 'eye hook thing' once because it broke).

Not got URL to hand as i'm just heading off but search 'powerhouse fitness' they have a shop in glasgow and i'm sure one in aberdeen...

yeah the shop's literally just round the corner from me. Not a bad shop actually, [1 million dollars] for a tub of Reflex Instant Mass. Did you just buy their own brand of belt?

It says "World Gym" on it which I refer to as World Champion or just, 'The Champs Belt'.

You know, now that I think, it could of been another shop in Glasgow which I just can't remember the name of now because it was so long ago and the shop closed down. It was near Central Station right across from Burger King but, it closed not long afterwards.

A training partner has a Maximuscle one which seems solid. You can get a good weight belt from them if you ever wanted one, too (I don't actually have a weight belt yet, but a training partner does).

Powerhouse is pretty good though, I doubt you can go wrong there. Infact, if we didn't have the internet then Powerhouse would probably be the only shop in Scotland that you could get decent stuff like that. JJB is good for Yoga Mats and stability balls and not much else :grin:

yeah i remember that shop opposite burger king. The powerhouse shop next to mine is actually quite good, they have a really cool selection of kettlebells, not that i have a home gym but if i did...

i'll just ask the wee guy in the shop what he thinks. He's quite a cool guy and seems to know his stuff

I think it came to me - think it was 'workout world'. I don't know. Doesn't matter really.

I've not been to the one in Glasgow for a while now but, the guy that was always in there was actually a competing BB. "heyooge". He would give good advice, too.

You can't really go wrong and, i've broke my dipping belt once, doing weighted pull ups when the eye-hook-thing broke. It provides you with a nice ego boost :grin:

I use a luggage strap for this. I just thread it through plates, and buckle it around my waist. It's OK for light weights, but I'd need to figure out a better way to attach the plates for heavier. I have occasionally put a 45 on this way, but it gets clumsy. A couple of 10s or even a 25 isn't bad.

I'd recommend the kind for which you thread the strap through the metal buckle, not the kind with the snap-together plastic buckle. They are 5 or 6 bucks in the luggage section of department stores. You might want to shorten them a little.

Good advice actually. If I remember correctly, Tim has mentioned using a dog leash. All that means is the weight you can use is limited to the size of dog you have.

my flatmates have a jack russel terrier. I dunno how well that'd work...
