I see what you mean. People worried about wrinkles when Africa has a crisis that might be averted with proper education and medical care.

Two statements that sum up the state of the world for what it is.

1. There are more obese people than there are starving people in the world.

2. The world spends 12 times more money on military expenditure than it does on foreign aid.

Until those trends are reversed i can't see where we're heading as a species in a positive light.
