Well so far it's been an once-in-a-century earthquake and now a once-in-a-century hurricane is going to chase him home.

So what should i do if my wife seriously begins to worry about and invasion from outer space?
Tell her it's only a once in a century chance that aliens will invade.

She's not worried, so you can rest easy on that one.

She tells me that all a person needs to do to clear most cases of acne is purchase a facial cleanser and exfoliate/moisturise. Typically, the acne is a simple case of blocked pores. Obviously, this doesnt solve 100% of all peoples issues but it's worth a shot!

She always used to bust my nuts because I washed my face and body with soap - she got me into using neutral shower gels and a dedicated facial cleanser (This sounds way more Metrosexual than it actually is - I literally reach for a bottle instead of a bar of soap in the shower). From time to time (say, once a week) I use an exfoliator (which i've had for the business end of a year - cost about [1 million dollars]) and use a cheap moisturiser ever morning. I feel like a new man!
Appreciate the pointers but I'm generally ok - pretty sure it's diet and a bit of a rough two weeks, and back on the fish oil now/dodging bread/pastry etc. I'll consider it if they keep cropping up - is a cleanser a gel/soap or is it like those scrubbing pads ? I'm not Mr.Alpha macho but can't say I've used skin care products

Just wanted a random vent - met a new girl (just friend of friend, wasnt date) and thought was a bit of a bastard for timing.

Don't waste your money on those things. Does nothing.

Don't turn the water up so high, keep it bordering on the almost cold temp. (helps your heating bill too)
Use clean washcloths. (In essence, don't use the washcloth that cleans your bum to clean your face also... and of course, wash your washcloth for the face at least once a week.)

*edit*

but really? haha, I know this is a 'random crap' thread... but beauty tips?

I've had the worst acne you can have.
The only thing that really helps (except for blocking out food sources that can cause acne: like whey protein)
is a creme with benzoylperoxide (I still use acneplus form louis widmer).
There also are anitbiotics (oral and lotions), but they don't cover all causes of acne.

wash cloth for face?
I lather up the ole hands and apply, in shower or at sink

I "breakout" (oh gosh, Im' turning) where the sweat bands are on head, and sometimes get rashes from wiping head continuously with towel. Goes away on its own soon.

I have about as much vanity as a tool shed, though. That should be obvious

Acne isn't caused by diet. Diet may affect outbreaks, or the severity of outbreaks, but if you don't have acne, nothing you eat will give it to you. If you have it, diet is only one piece of the puzzle. Acne is an abnormality of the oil glands in the skin. Normally, these glands shed old cells, which are washed out to the surface of the skin along with the oil. In acne, the cells clump together, and as they are sloughed the form plugs in the duct. The gland continues to produce oil, so pressure builds up in the gland, and the gland swells. If there are bacteria in the gland (as there usually are) being confined allows infection to start.

Diet may affect the chemistry of the oil, and changes may affect the acne. Exfolients (substances that remove surface skin cells) may help to open the ducts better. Soap can be an exfolient, drying the surface and allowing surface cells to slough faster. Harsh soaps can make it worse by causing increased irritation and redness. Other compounds may help. Antibiotics (either systemic or topical) may suppress the infection in the oil glands, and decrease the severity of the outbreak. This is especially helpful in people with severe cystic acne, which can cause permanent scars. Most successful OTC acne products contain benzoyl peroxide, which both dries the surface cells, and suppresses infection in the glands. If acne is severe enough to cause red lumps, seek medical treatment.

from another site

"My sister is 25 years old 5'4 and almost 400lbs. She has consistantly gained 20 lbs per year since around age 12. She is finally trying to do something about it and is losing weight so she can have the gastric bypass surgery. So far in about 3 months she has lost 17 lbs. I really want to help her out and am hoping she will see she actually can lose weight and doesn't need to get the surgery. She is seeing a nutrionist but I am not convinced they are giving her the best advice. She is a very picky eater which has always been a part of the problem."

pretty sure that's not a huge part of the probem

I've read that acne isn't caused by diet a lot, but in fact it is.
I didn't have acne (never) untill I used whey protein then suddenly BAM enormous outbreak and I looked like i was a burn victim, except worse.

Also: an article on t-nation about it

Good article. I've seen Cordain talk about it. It appears that he mostly blames glycemic load. It appears there may be other factors like gluten. Some acne is inflamatory and most is bacterial. Supporting the immune system and normalizing inflamation has to have an impact. There's definately a hormone effect on acne of some type and I think that's worth researching. Diet can certainly affect hormones.

man I remember those poor kids in school that had their teen years ruined by horrific acne. I may not be the best looking guy on the planet but I'm glad I never had that to worry about

Well... I think we've all learnt something about Acne and facial hygeine. And remember, there is nothing Metrosexual about looking after your skin folks - no-one wants to look like a chamois leather!
