Yesterday, there was a guy at my gym with body odor so bad that the staff asked him to leave.

Report from 2012

I thought those of you on the other side of the world would like some advanced information on the new year. It seems to be a good year so far. In fact, I haven't had a major problem so far this year! Other than my usual need for coffee, I have felt well all year. My wife and I haven't had a single argument this year. Of course, I'm sitting here playing at the computer while she gets ready for company for Sunday brunch, so that could change at any moment.

My only complaint is the weather. The usual custom here is that people set old car tires on fire and throw them up into trees at midnight. One year I could stand in our front yard and see 14 of them on the surrounding hillsides. Last night it was raining very hard at midnight, so I figured that tires wouldn't burn very well, and I didn't want to get soaked looking. This morning it's cloudy and dull, instead of the brilliant clear sunny mornings we usually have at this time of the year.

For the rest of you, may you have peace and joy in the new year. May your problems be small, conflicts be few, weather be brilliant and may you get stronger in some way every day. Happy New Year.

Too bad there aren't more gyms like this.

There should be a national 'fitness raid day' where everyone who actually trains goes to Planet Fitness and takes over everything, with chains, chalk, everything!

I'm starting ther new yr in a funk. Sucks when my busiest times at work coincide with the holiday season.'
This too shall pass

Training always helps if I get over the inital lack of motivation hurdle that accompanies these funks

It's a sad, sad day when "Animal Physiology" starts showing up at the top of the list more often than "Random Crap"! Is nothing sacred anymore?

I just read Animal Farm, it's supposed to be a satire but I was too damn depressed to see how relevant it really is.

I'm getting a new lens for my camera. It's a Rokinon 500mm f/8 with a 2X teleconverter.

It's long. It's reasonably fast for that long. And he's getting a gadget that will make it into a 1000mm (sheesh, that's a meter!) lens. No bird or dragonfly in Pennsylvania will be safe from his prying lens.

I'll be watching for the photos.

And for any of you who haven't caught on, Matt is a very talented nature photographer.
