that's weird, I just nicked it from youtube...stuward wrote:What' the song Robert? It's not available here.
It's "Fire in the Twilight" by Wang Chung. Decent 80s synthpop nonsense. Highly recommended
Also Stu, as per your recommendation, I finally got around to giving The Velvet Underground a good go. My verdict is:
-The one with Nico was awful
-White Light/White Heat is awful
-The Velvet Underground is pretty good
-Loaded and VU are both great, with Loaded being my favourite
I didn't bother with Squeeze as, as far as I'm aware, Lou Reed had left by then.
Really enjoyed Loaded though
Re: music you like!
That's funny. I prefer their earlier work. I don't count Squeeze. Loaded has reworked versions of some of their earlier stuff and is certainly the best to start with. My favorite is Peel Slowly and See. It's a 5 disk boxed set and contains their original demo tapes along with all the Lou Reed era material. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peel_Slowly_and_See" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I like the demos. They kept every take. It's like being in the studio with them.

This is what I'm listening to right now. 9 hours long. I doubt I'll make it all the way through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wgi97bVfCU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just can't get into the early stuff, I gave White Light/White Heat another go today but it's nt happening. There's no drums, and I hate the production.stuward wrote:That's funny. Loaded suits me much better; more groove laden and more melodic.
I actually feel the exact same way about Pink Floyd! It's just too meandering. I can listen to the easier stuff like Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond etc., but the really progressive stuff is just too much for me. I clearly haven't done as much acid as you Stu!
Re: music you like!
Some days I think I didn't do enough. Anyway, at least you listened to it. Astronomy Domine was pretty cool when I was 17.

Re: music you like!
yet another band I've been meaning to check out for years. Strap yourself in for a nostalgic, stone cold groove ride Stu
Re: music you like!
Love that album. I have it on vinyl. There is a big group of related bands from that period. The Byrds, CSN&Y, The Eagles, The Hollies, Flying Burrito Brothers, etc. It's an interesting period.
This is my favorite Stephen Stills album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X0MR6mSqyA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Stills was on the second half, recorded with no notice after Mike Bloomfield didn't show up. I like the Bloomfield side better musically, but I appreciate Stills discipline and flexibility more.

I've listened to all the BUffalo Springfield stuff today and Again is definitely the album I like best. The first album is great, but Again has a a moodier, slightly edgier feel that I prefer.
That Super Session album is sexy as hell, I've actually listened to it before on your recommendation. Awesome feel to it, like a live performance.

I like the art work on those old albums too. It seems that's something that was lost on the move from vinyl.
