If we limit it to legal weapons, I'd say a 12 gauge shotgun with dear slugs. That's got some serious stopping power. For crowd control, I'd say tear gas plus any rifle with high capacity magazines.

Hi guys. I was always wondering: why nobody uses electric guns for self defense? You can't kill anyone, and you can control them until police arrives. I saw that there are only some special forces that can remove those electrodes from body when you shoot them, and average burglar won't do that. Maybe because it isn't manly?

This made me think of the Metal Storm. Sorry, I have a different idea of defense.

I'm assuming you're referring to Tasers. They've already been discussed on the forum at some point. The general consensus is that while they can be useful as a non-lethal option, they do have some major drawbacks (range, accuracy, limited number or shots/shocks, issues with reliability and battery life, failure to penetrate heavy winter clothing, cost, training cost). Also, Tasers aren't always legal for civilian use.

Also non-lethal weapons tend to get used more than they need to and they're not without risk. Police and military get extensive training on how and when to use them. I doubt they'll be legal for civilians anytime soon.
