cooking does not preserve meat. It's a temporary change. It will kill bacteria, but not prevent bacteria or mold from growing in the future.

Salt (sugar also) is a preservative. It prevents bacteria and mold from growing.

tyler-who said anything about cooking it and then salting it? Daniel and Ironmaiden were discussing salted meats and hypertension, the gist was how it evolved, why it was salted, and how they dealt with it. What I think is silly, is someone that doesn't fully read something and makes a Smart ---- reply

We have had fire for 40,000 years. I still enjoyed my carpaccio anyway. I also like my steaks medium rare more often than not.

It wasn't meant as a smart --- reply...I really didn't know how long humans have been using fire. My argument is I don't see the benefits of not cooking food...aside from maybe people who prefer the taste.
