TapaTalk for Mobile Devices ---- PLEASE

Post by wilburburns » Thu Dec 08, 2011 10:58 am

Can we add the TapaTalk Plugin to the forum.

Overview of What it does:
Formats the Forum so that it is much easier to read and view from a Mobile Device using the TapaTalk App on IOS and Android.

Cost:
FREE to Forum Owners/Admins
Minimal to App Users

Install Time:
~15min which includes Registration on the TapaTalk Site.
I will even volunteer to do all the Template work to install the plugin.

I do most of my forum reading/posting from my phone these days and I really miss coming here frequently due to being unfriendly to use on my phone.

Thanks,
Cliff

OK, if you get it prepared so I can do this fairly quickly and easily, I 'll register and install it.

I got the app, it's only $2.99 on Android Market. It's actually pretty nice. It formats everything very well.

I picked up the tapatalk app after seeing this thread. I've tried to use it to view this forum, but I am getting a contact forum admin type error. So is it still working?

Two things have happened since then. There was a minor version upgrade, which I really doubt had any effect. There was also a server migration. I'll have to look into that.

I found the problem and did what should have fixed it, yet it still doesn't work.

I tried installing the new version, removing and reactivating and everything I could think of. It should work but it doesn't. So I posted on their forum to see if they could get a more specific error than what I get, and maybe have some idea why it won't work.

Yeah, It quit working a few weeks ago, but I hadn't had a chance to get beck and mention it.

I'll assume you Cleared the PHPBB Cache. That has typically been the cause of Tapatalk errors on the systems I have running it.

I must admit, I haven't updated to the latest tapatalk plugin for any of my Forums yet though. And my PHPBB versions are still at 3.09. :(

It's working now. There was an additional permissions issue.

You need the latest version of tapatalk for 3.0.10, previous versions will not work. So you can upgrade both of them at the same time.

It had been since just before the new year the last time I browsed the forum on my phone. I can tell you exactly when it broke. That would be the Monday before last when we did the server migration. The permissions changed, as did the path.

Then I double broke it so to speak, when I upgraded to 3.0.10.

So I needed to install the new version, as well as change the path. Plus the way put the lines in the header file is different. You have to make sure the permissions are set right too. Other than docs and html files (which should be 644), mobiquo and everything under it have to be 755. Apparently leaving your mobiquo directory at 775, even if all the files and sub-directories are 755, will break your app.

So are your forums for customers, or is it stuff you run as part of a hobby, like I do with this one?

Sorry for the delay in responding, I missed this post somehow..

The forums with Tapatalk I manage are for clients. I am also a member and participate on them, but Clients none the less. And I still haven't updated them, due to some mods I have on the forum to stop the spammers..

I got a bunch of MODs too. All you do is backup your forum, then run the patch upgrade. so it just patches the files, but if it screws something up, you can fix it manually with your backup. I think it requires shell access though. I do it command line.
