Hello,
I have looked at the metabolic step calculator posted on this site under Calculators=>Step.
It describes the protocol where you step in place onto a fixed step.
I wonder how does it relate to climbing actual steps, ex. an staircase in a tall building?
In-place stepping involves short effort up (leg 1, leg 2) and short effort down (leg 1, leg 2)
Staircase climbing involves long effort up (ex. 100 steps) and long effort down (100 steps)
Let's assume all else (step height, step frequency, body weight) are equal.
From the physical standpoint the effort would be the same, but I suppose the response of human body is not that simple...?
