How many times a week should you do HIIT?

Post by jen20 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 12:37 pm

I was thinking of doing it three times a week, with one steady state cardio session. I also do upper and lower body weights 4x/wk. Is this too much?

IMHO, no, it's not too much, but you're the only person that can really answer that question. Try it, listen to your body, then judge. If it is too much, then cut back a bit on volume and/or intensity. There are no finite numbers that determine what constitutes what "too much"
is, but rather many variables; current condition,
volume, intensiy.

Try doing it twice a week on days when you don't do your weights (always remember to have a good warm-up)

Sunday: Off/Recover
Monday: Lower body (Heavy)
Tuesday: Upper body (Light)- moderate aerobic workout
Wednesday: HIIT workout
Thursday: Lower body (Light)- moderate aerobic workout
Friday: Upper body (Heavy)
Saturday: HIIT workout

remember everything is modified to each clients goals ie. weight loss, build aerobic capacity ect.
