Warm up reps!

Warm-up reps must provide benefits; increased neuro-muscular contact, is one I think would make sense.

Does anyone have any academic links to journals or books that explain the benefits of warm-up reps?

You don't need academic references. Try it each way. Once you warm up your muscles, you will be able to lift more. You'll also be less likely to injure yourself.

Warm up reps provide a number of benefits,
Warm up saves from any muscles injury that can be happened due to immediate exercise without warm up.
Warm up makes the exercise more effective and productive.
15 minutes of warm up are fine and enough. Why are you not trying to get academic reference yourself rather to rely upon others that may be irrelevant for your specifications.

You are talking about a general warm-up. That has been discussed ad nauseum here, and I doubt that you can find support for any of the points you make. He is asking about warm-up sets for specific lifts, and his question is about academic references, not just one guy's opinion. He has his own.

He's asking for help because we help each other sometimes. He's looked on his own, and not found what he was seeking, and wanted to see if any of us had come across anything.

Most of us here (I think) use some sort of prep work for our work-outs that may include warm-up, stretching, soft tissue work, mobility work, specific muscle group activation, but most don't make the flat claims that you do.
