Pain in front delt

Post by signalp » Mon Sep 08, 2014 9:42 pm

I'm experiencing pain in the front of my delt, when performing pressing exercises
Especially d/b shoulder press and chest press,
Which travels down to my bicep left hand side
I work rotators and stretch but seems to be getting worse over time
Muscle imbalance from front to rear of shoulder ?????

I think you'll have to visit a physiotherapist if that pain prevails. Did you ask any expert in your local gym if they have any idea of what it could be? Hope you get better!

I had that issue a few years ago. Asked a lot of questions here.

So if this helps there were two big things that helped me. First was the old lacrosse ball against the wall to remove muscle knots from my shoulders. I sometimes wonder how many perceived injuries are just muscle knots. A lot in my case lol.

Second my bench technique was terrible - made worse by my long arms and thin chest.

This is an amazing article, 1st of 3, that will teach you all sorts of stuff about shoulders.

Great article ken! I also found that the pain I had in my front delt had to do with the intense loads on them. When I bench, all the stress goes to my front delt which is indication my form is complete crap. I forgo bench pressing and opt for machines since my shoulder tends to take over a lot.

Foam rollers have helped tremendously and even Ken's suggestion. I also read somewhere using tennis balls on a wall or ground to massage the area to relieve the pain.

May want to consider taking an anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen works) overnight, might just be some inflammation preventing your body from healing. I've had issues (specifically front delt issues) last weeks and then disappear overnight with an anti-inflammatory.
