Can anyone advise me
Why when performing leg extn, the lower bsck hurts
I stretch my hips flexors and use the foam roller on my IT band
Bit always hurts, weather the weight or light or heavy
Always warmed up first too
Any reason why ????

Try extending your knees from a seated position WITHOUT weight.
If your lower back still hurts when doing that, a visit to a sports doctor (or other qualified professional) is in order.
BTW - does your lower back hurt when you do other leg exercises (particularly the leg press?)

Re: Pain in lower back when doing leg extn
When you sit in the machine with your knees bent, is there a space between your butt and the seat back (back rest)?

Yes hurts lower back when doing leg press press
Bo gap between back rest and butter on leg extra

Hopefully Matt and Stephen will see this as it's an old thread but I'm glad you cam back to it.
Make sure your hips are back firmly against the back pad when doing leg press and there should be a natural arch in your lower back. If not, adjust the seat position so you can do that. Lower the weight so you don't lift your hips during the press.
Make sure you follow up with a sports doctor as Stephen suggested.
