Blood Lactate Testing

What are people views on BLT on endurance athletes when using ear or finger picks to draw samples. Assuming good blood handling technique and safety, do you feel it is neccesary to have a doctor present and what do you think the liability issues are?

No you dont need a doctor present. Why would you? I have performed 100's and supervised hundreds more of these types of test and never required medical assistance for any. Liability depends on what you are talking about...blood borne disease or injury through poor technique or....??? Done in a laboratory environment all approvals from ethical, human rights to safety have to be covered. If you plan on doing one outside of a lab then get written consent, provide detailed info to your victim :) about the procedure and any risks, side effects etc and have insurance. For a non athlete use the finger as it is less confronting but for better results use the lobe.
