It's quite good to read this log. It cost me $20 actually as it twisted my arm to buy the book.
My first thought was - LOADS OF REPS (for the assistance stuff). And, not a big volume of lifts at a high %. But I took a step back and realised that it's probably exactly what I need.
When I've finished what im doing just now, I'm going to test everything then give this a shot. Not sure if i'll be able to handle military press but i'll atleast give it a try and see how it goes.

Whoops Doc, I should have said assited chins. I can do about four unassisted.
KPj, I was almost at a standstill with my progress. I tried everything to speed things up. I haven't maxed out yet, and will wait for the 3 month point to do so, but I feel have made more progress in the last 6 weeks than I did all of last year.
It doesn't have to be the military press, it can be the shoulder press.

It's just the 'overhead' part that could be a problem. But, if it is, my shoulders will get pi$$ed off gradually, so i'll know before it's too much of an issue, and, when they do get painfull, I can sort them out in a matter of days. It's worth trying I think. I've missed military pressing! If i choose assistance exercises carefully, I think i'll be fine.
It sounds good. I like the focus on reps as opposed to a 1RM. I don't max out a hell of a lot but i'm always focused on the weight more than the reps i.e. focusing on getting 3RM higher, or 2RM higher.... Been doing a lot of 'singles over 90%' and it basically just turns into a battle with the ego. I blame the guys i've been training with recently (translation: lack of will power). I think this could be a great change up for me. I also always do 3 and 5 rep maxes on assistance stuff like pull/chin ups, DB rows etc so it will be interesting to see what happens when I start going for loads of reps on these instead. I might even - gulp - get bigger. Hmmmmm
I'm curious what you and the Doc chose out of the percentage options? (65,75,85 vs, 75, 80, 85) Option 1 or 2? Wendler says option 2 can be pretty grueling but it looks more appealing. That probably means I should go for option 1.... Wendler, or someone on elitefts, said something like, "when you enter the gym your IQ drops to 0". I think the same probably happens when you try and look at your own programs - what you want to do vs what you NEED to do.
