Power Clean and Deadlift

Post by kidkurious » Mon Jun 12, 2006 1:06 am

If I were to do the Power Clean and Deadlft on the same workout, should I decrease the # of sets of each of these exercises as they work the same muslces?

They do work the same muscles right? the quads, hamstrings, lower back, uppoer back, traps?.. except that they work the muscles in a different way.. which is why I'm pondering about this...

Hi Kid. They work the same muscles, the PC just gets a few more (top of back, and the arms to a limited degree). You could do them both on a progression type of thing. Here's how we used to do it when working the power clean/ 3-4 sets of 3-5 increasing weights each set until you top out. Then add 50 lbs and do 3X3 with the deadlift, increasing the weight each DL set. The last set should be fairl heavy.
