Protein with water
Does anybody know of one that tastes good with water? Or juice? I feel sluggish and sort of sick after drinking a shake with milk pre-workout so I've stopped doing it.

I like protein powder mixed in water. But that said, you're just going to have to try some and see. I find the more fake flavors they have, the nastier the taste - no milk to mask it. So much so most of my protein is plain unflavored stuff I buy in bulk from trueprotein.
Muscle Milk tastes great in water, though. But it's not just protein, so unless you want a meal replacement powder, you're stuck sorting through a variety of proteins to find the one you like.

I use a variety of proteins from a few sources. In my closet right now are:jps wrote:Which protein are you using from them?
Brands:
Nutribiotics Vegan Rice Protein (chocolate and vanilla)
ON Gold Standard Casein (chocolate and vanilla)
ON Gold Standard Whey (chocolate)
...and the generics from True Protein:
Milk Protein Isolate (unflavored)
Gemma Pea Protein (unflavored)
In the past I've used the cross-flow microfiltration whey, also unflavored, and chocolate flavored hydrolyzed whey. I dropped those because I find the ON Gold Standard Whey gets me the same results (compared to the CFM) or better (compared to hydrolyzed whey) in terms of how I feel after I drink them post-workout.
I tend to rotate and mix my protein around, and I'm trying the gemma pea protein now because the Nutribiotics rice protein doesn't mix well. So far, so good on the pea protein.
It hasn't gone bad on me. I just stick it in my old Muscle Milk and ON containers, or tupperware or rubbermaid containers. Or I just pour some out and re-zip-tie the big bag it came in until I need to re-fill a smaller container.jps wrote:Seems I can cut my protein cost in half by using trueprotein. It would take me a while to go through 25 lbs though.....I assume the stuff won't stale/go bad. ?

It just tastes a little chalky, if that. The whey just colors the water and makes it a bit thicker. The berries will flavor it just fine.jps wrote:OK thanks. I'm currently using ON Gold as well....just looking to save some money.
How is the unflavored flavor of the trueprotein? I usually add a 1/2 cup of berries to my shakes, so I shouldn't really need the flavoring. Thoughts?
