I decided to buy some pemmican, I will eventually make my own but I want to try it first.

I cant believe I never thought about this before, its like the perfect bulking super food! Its expensive but worth it I think.

Any of you guys had it before? The one i'm buying is from http://canawa.com/

Hmmm... It says it's 50% tallow, which is what McDonalds used to deep fry their french fries until they switched to vegetable oil.

The caloric content is high but I can't imagine it is much different or any more healthy then mixing beef jerky with lard and throwing it in a blender :roll:

It def. costs more, though.

85% of the calories come from fat.

EIGHTY FIVE!

It is also going to be mostly saturated fat.

I think these are meant more to be a condensed food to eat for survival and not really as a nutritional supplement.

If you want to make your own, you can still buy tallow. You can ask a farmer that sells pastured beef for some suet and render your own or buy it by the pail. http://www.grasslandbeef.com/Detail.bok?no=711

Ricky, the way you put that you make it sound like a bad thing. Next thing I know is you will be telling me my fozen crunched bacon and fat on a stick is bad as well.

Maybe the Texans are onto something there. In the world, outside the USA, french fries/pommes frites are served with mayo or remulade. A German friend of mine who was over here visiting looked at the fries with ketchup, looked at me, and stated how disgusting it looked.

What? Mayo on fries? I'm from Texas, not some freaking weird country? That just sounds gross. Now, I do like mayo on my grilled corn.

In the UK it's all about 'chips' and mayo! I like burger sauce with it too but too sugary. Also fish and chip, chips with curry sauce mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

I'm a standard american. Nothing beats ketchup and french fries, I don't care how un-paleo/high carby it is :wink:. So do Europeans put ketchup on their burgers either?

Usually mayo/ketchup combined, heh. Also, atleast in the Netherlands, french fries with peanut sauce (Satay sauce) is fairly common. Best thing ever. (Sadly, most Dutch recipes for it use about 30-50% peanut butter, 10% soy sauce and the rest sugar. BAD BAD BAD!)
