I have been playing for a while now and have been trying to find some technical and yet original pieces in music to learn. To give you an idea of what I've learned so far would be.

1.classical gas - mason williams
2.crazy on you - heart
3.benighted - opeth
4.acoustic piece - inflames
5.acoustic medly - inflames
6.man made god - inflames
7.never let go - camel
8.joe satriani stuff

any kind of pieces like that are what im looking for. if anyone had any suggestions of artists or songs that are really fun to play?

If you want technical, look up Jason Becker. If you can play stuff from the "Perpetual Burn" album, I would be seriously impressed.

Clive Carrol is supposedly one of the best fingerstyle guitarists who ever lived, it's pretty advanced though. Also a guy called Richard Thompson is regarded very highly.

Failing that just buy a copy of The Ultimate Hendrix Experience or whatever that album's called and get a copy of the tablature. That'll keep you going for a while.
