Re: Random crap
Matt, how do you hand hold a 500mm lens? Even at f8, aren't most of your exposures too slow to really make hand-holding this long a lens practical?

Re: Random crap
Not really ... at least not with the ISO turned up to 800. Also the Pentax KR camera body has a shake retuction feature that probably helps a little.
Re: Random crap
Not really random crap, but I didn't feel like posting a topic:
I'm going to start Dan John's 40-day program today.
I'm not sure on the weights I'll use:
- 50% 1RM and add weight every workout till it's getting pretty heavy and then adding weight when I feel like it
or
- Using pretty heavy weights (like he says, no grunting or straining) and adding weight when it's easy
I think I'm going to use the first possibility.
A) Deadlift 2x5
B) Front squat 2x5
C1) Press 2x5
C2) Clean 2x5
D1) Incline bench press 2x5
D2) Curl 2x5
E) snatch 1x20-50
F1) calf raises 1x10-15
F2) front lever progression 1xmax
I added 4 extra exercises (squat, a press, a pull and calf raises) I might drop them when the weights get higher though

Re: Random crap
i would do it like Dan John says to do it. He knows more about strength training than the rest of the world put together
Re: Random crap
Today, on my way back from the gym, I was chased by a horse...
Re: Random crap
Wouter, Dan John recoomends 5 exercises. You should do exactly 5 exercises.
" A large posterior chain movement (the deadlift is the right answer)
• Upper body push (bench press, incline bench press, military press)
• Upper body pull (pull-ups, rows, or, if you've ignored them like me, heavy bicep curls)
• A simple full-body explosive move (kettlebell swings or snatches)
• And something for what I call an "anterior chain" move (an abdominal exercise). I think the ab wheel is king here, but you can also do some movements best suited for lower reps

I think there is a rule against discussion training on RC. This is sacred random territory.
Re: Random crap
Yeah you're right. I'll drop the calf raises, curls and incline bench.stuward wrote:Wouter, Dan John recoomends 5 exercises. You should do exactly 5 exercises.

But I'll still do the squats.
Aaight, won't do it again. hahaJungledoc wrote:I think there is a rule against discussion training on RC. This is sacred random territory.

the most fullfilling part of my work day is consuming all the good food I bring.

Does anyone know where Tim is these days? He hasn't visited the forum since Boxing Day.

Somebody put a post on Facebook:

Last time he "went silent" for a couple of weeks he was still reading, but not posting. You are right that he hasn't visited at all since Boxing Day. I've tried to email him--he has his settings to allow it, so I'll see if I can get an answer. I also asked for his permission to share a little about his health issues.stuward wrote:Does anyone know where Tim is these days? He hasn't visited the forum since Boxing Day.
