nice one. chest to bar is challenging. i'm fascinated by the variation in the ranges of movement people think makes a pullup.
overhand is different and I think not redundant. there's less bicep work, and biceps are really useful.

I agree - but funny you should mention that, because I did some pull-ups after doing my chin test, and I couldn't get my chest to the bar with the overhand grip, I got my head and neck well clear of the bar, but couldn't get my chest to touch the bar. I don't know if it was an angle issue, or ROM because of my shoulders are jacked up from 15 odd years of rugby, but Ill keep playing with it :)

Okay, reporting in.

Been busy all this week, so treated it as a deload week.

Warmed up with front squats today and jumped right in with a max pull-up set.

Got an easy 11 and squeeeeeeeezed out a 12th! :headbang:

I just used ladders for the 4 weeks, only maxing at 8 reps and back down again.

I'm a little lighter today, about 3-4lbs.

Last year I wanted to get 11 (my max was 10), but backed out of the challenge because of tennis elbow, which i've cured now, so I guess two extra reps makes up for that! i'll take it.

Did 11 chinups yesterday. Still not sure if the last one counts as I have to do some kicking in order to get my chin to bar height. Wednesday I'll try the pullups.

Going to have to bail out of the challenge, due to sickness i've had two weeks off from training in Feb. Two sessions of pullups, with one of them being a gentle easer, isn't going to do anything to me numbers. Due to a number of niggling injuries i haven't been able to train pullups with any intensity or frequency for 8 months or so. I used to feel like a superhero on the pullup bar, now i feel like an obese old woman. Time address that i feel.
What if the Hokey Cokey really IS what it's all about?

Didn't make it to the gym last week, but tested today. I did 14 -- didn't complete that 15th-- so I improved by one but didn't make my goal.

PK, sorry about the injuries. You're making big progress in several lifts, though, so don't feel too bad about it.
Travis, the challenge is to make a 10% improvement, so if you went from 13 to 14, well, 1.3 rounds to 1, so you met the challenge.

Yes, with the usual reservation about the completion of the last one, but since that was true for the 9th and now it's on the 10th, I consider the job done, albeit I failed the deadline for the challange.

See i'm still down as ??? - ill go for a more conservative 11>14 - I think 12 has me springing out the bottom/perhaps not fully extending them all, and I can't live with that! has to be full rep.
