Afternoon: Got my knee checked out.

PM: Shooto Grappling Class. Had to sit out the takedown/clinch drills, but otherwise worked technique and some sparring. Held my own against everyone, at least, including my Japanese coach. He couldn't break my guard although he stuffed my submission attempts easily.

Long time since I did MMA in Japan. About half of my buddies are still there.

AM: Lots of walking.

PM: BJJ class. Did no-gi. Had a pretty hard time with the technique (since I don't know stuff like Spider Guard) but did well enough grappling.

Again, long time since I grappled in Japan. Listening to a complex explanation of how to execute a BJJ technique in Japanese is still hard. My poor partner had a hard time because I didn't really know the reversal I was supposed to attempt (and which he was to stuff). Had a lot of fun sparring later with my friend Golgol (not his real name), when I kept hassling him for trying to choke my chin during a rear naked choke attempt. Fun.

Extremely long day (travel back to my original time zone, so day was 36-37 hours long). Lots of walking and climbing stairs. Insufficient sleep.

Back in the US and back on schedule. Once my knee is back up to speed I should be back to MMA, but I plan to ease back into it.

Rest day. Did some walking, including a nice stroll. Concentrated on proper foot placement and full range-of-motion stepping. I've basically taught myself to shuffle-step on the bad knee, and now it's not a bad knee anymore so I need to break the habit.
