fat gripz are not the same as gloves in any way, shape or form.
buy some chalk and take your calluses like a man

fat gripz make the bar harder to hold onto, not easier. They increase the bar diameter to make it like fat bar work. They're a good tool but not for your purposes.
I recommend you sneak chalk in, but if you can't do that get some of the liquid stuff. It works pretty well and there's no mess so most gyms are ok with it.
Smells nice too. Coconutty.

ok, then i dont need fatgripz. i thought it's jsut to protect the hand and the rest of the sayin like "you get bigger arms" is hokus pokus.
coconutty sounds nice!

fat gripz definitely have their place. They make your shoulders feel awesome during pressing, and are great for direct arm work, but yeah you wouldn't use them to protect your hands
Re: do you use gloves or grips?
and gloves are ok? or is it better to just use nothing?

meh, gloves are ok I guess. I always kind of think that people that use them are pansies scared of getting rough skin on their delicate wittle handsy wandsies though...

if you're scared of sweat then maybe you should take up needlepoint.
Just make sure to use a thimble to protect your delicate little thumsby wumsy

hehehehehehe. i i'm not worried about my little thumbsy wumbsy. it just does not make sense to buy gloves if they are destroyed after a few weeks. also not scared of sweat, but the grip maybe becomes slippery with sweating hands. but i'm gonna try to LIFT LIKE A MAN without gloves!!

Take a towel with you, or use chalk. Skip the gloves, toughen up your hands and wear your calluses with honour.ephs wrote:robertscott wrote:meh, gloves are ok I guess. Actually if your gym doesn't allow chalk I'd recommend dryhands (dot com).
Re: do you use gloves or grips?
Are you using hook grip for heavy deadlifts or something? In the years I have been lifting I have never messed up my thumbs lifting anything, even when a noob. I've had calluses on my palms and fingers, and ripped them off doing certain lifts (kettlebell work or oly variants), but never chewed up my thumbs.
As far as gloves go, the only time I consider them acceptable is when I have lost a callus and I'm bleeding and it is deadlift day.
