Re: i need a good full body routine
another short question:
i still only workout on monday and wednesday, and do cardio on tuesday, thursday, friday. i decided to stick to this program in the off-season, cause it's working.
would it effect my strength training negatively, if i would do a very high number of pushups on fridays? a good friend was in the portuguese army and his record is 67 in a row. i want to beat that one day, so i want to train pushups beside my strength training.

Re: i need a good full body routine
another option would be to finish the workouts on mon/wed with some sets of push ups. what do you think?

Ask yourself: Would it? And if so, why would it? It's really not rocket science.ephs wrote: would it effect my strength training negatively, if i would do a very high number of pushups on fridays? a good friend was in the portuguese army and his record is 67 in a row. i want to beat that one day, so i want to train pushups beside my strength training.
Short answer to a short question: No, it wouldn't effect negatively. More likely the results will be very positive.
EDIT: They will be more beneficial when done seperately, if you intend to get better on push-ups, not just burn the muscles in end of the workout.

if i ask myself, i would also say i could do squats, bench press, rows, pull ups and military press 3 times a week, but this could easily lead to overtrainingDub wrote:Ask yourself: Would it? Then you would know. Only you know how your body reacts to training. Some people can do full body workouts three times a week with no problem and some common sense on workload. Some can't.ephs wrote: if i ask myself, i would also say i could do squats, bench press, rows, pull ups and military press 3 times a week, but this could easily lead to overtraining. ok, i will try to work on my push ups on fridays. thx!
Try it out. If it hurts your progress and actual work, cut it out.

Re: i need a good full body routine
yeah, i read a lot about full body programs for 3 times a week, but most of the time it is something like one day medium, one day light, one day heavy. but i like to lift heavy every workout.

i don't get the meaning of that sentence.Oscar_Actuary wrote:see me in 12 months on that one
yes, it could be an indication. most of the time i'm not sore anymore after 48 hours or so. maybe i should hit the gym on friday then. only lower back could be a problem. deadlifting 3 times a week is maybe too much.

.
Deadlift Monday, Step Ups Wednesday, Back/Front Squat Friday.
Or do only Upper on Wednesday if heavy lower 3x a week is too much
Better yet, keep listening to yuor body and push where you can.
Re: i need a good full body routine
lol, the german sentence doesn't make sense. i understand the english words, but what is the meaning? you are going to do 3x full body in 12 months?

Re: i need a good full body routine
it means, I wonder if you will like going heavy every workout after 12 months of doing and increasing weight on bar
but if you ony lift 2x a week, perhaps it will be fine for a long time.

Re: i need a good full body routine
ah okay. yes, sooner or later i have to deload. my plan is to lift as heavy as possible til my improvements stagnate.

Re: i need a good full body routine
I predict that won't be too long. Alternating light/heavy will keep you progressing longer and farther. The light and heavy days have different benefits.ephs wrote:ah okay. yes, sooner or later i have to deload. my plan is to lift as heavy as possible til my improvements stagnate.

i have two definitions of light:Jungledoc wrote:I predict that won't be too long. Alternating light/heavy will keep you progressing longer and farther. 1) same reps with lighter weight
2) more reps with lighter weight
is it necessary to do a light workout per week, if i'm only training two times?
