Like pretty much any exercise, upright rows can cause pain and discomfort for some people some of the time. This doesn't mean they're a bad exercise, or that you'll hurt yourself if you try them. My advice is to try upright rows, starting with light weights and gradually working your way up, while always being careful to use good form. If at any time you notice pain or discomfort other than normal muscle soarness, discontinue the exercise and try something different.
PS.) I've heard the Olympic lifts and some of their assist lifts are great for all three heads of the deltoid, although I'm not terribly familiar with these.

alright thanks. I can upright row pretty heavy but doesnt really matter.
what r ur opinions on the cuban press? Does it do a good job in working the lateral deltoids?
PS. I cant do military presses because my left arm is much weaker then my right. If both of my arms were equal in strength i could press several reps around 95 lbs.

many people are saying that it just strengthens and helps the rotator rufs (or something). Does it do a good job with the lateral delts?
