I guess if your doing cardio just for cardiovascular health this wouldn't matter, but if your also trying to lose weight it would.

I would certainly think so. It would trigger an insulin response, shutting down gh release.

I've never bothered drinking anything but water during a prolonged workout, my advanced age notwithstanding. I'll take my chances with cortisol rather than get nausea on the treadmill. ;-)

It takes longer for the body to breakdown fat to use it as energy, the body uses the stored glycen in the cells first, then uses body fat or breaks down protein for energy (depends on the temp) Ie: hard intense work = protein breakdown after glycen runs out, low-med intense work = body fat being broke down. For me, I just try to get some complex carbs via whole grain bagel or fruit and yogurt 45 mins prior to a workout cardio routine. Since I'm not concerned about burning fat and more so about working out my heart and forcing my body to deal with lactic acid removal and effeicent energy usage.
