When shouting, I think it's good to throw in some expletives as well. It's kind of douchey to others but a different part of your brain is supposed to light up. I usually take care of this while I'm driving to the gym so that I can get fired up without dropping like 10 F bombs in the gym lol.

I haven't tried it while lifting, but apparently this guy does:

Interesting, however I am just doing work out at home and I do not think it is a good thing to shout while working out besides it is just sit-ups, crunches, leg raises and planking.

Rosetta, Commenting on old threads is poor form. If you have new, interesting information, please start a new thread instead of resurrecting old ones.

Read the dates before you post. Don't answer questions from old posts.

How did this delve into a martial arts talk halfway through? Haha...I play a lot of Tennis and the shouting definitely does help hit the ball harder!

However, it will annoy everyone in the gym.

Shouting, fiercely and with meaning, will improve performance whether you're squatting, benching, running a 40, 200, etc.
How? Well if you do it right (you'll know when you do it right), it causes inhibitory areas of your CNS that would normally be active to actually be temporarily inhibited themselves thereby allowing in a greater performance output.
