I do have a question for you though:

what kind of warm up, soft tissue work etc do you do for you shoulders, if any?

The reason I ask is lateral raises seem to bother my shoulder a bit if I do them too much or too heavy. I'd love to be able to hammer them the way you do but I'd have both arms in a sling for 2 weeks after a session.

Have you had any issues? And if so, how did you work around them?

hmmm... I don't really do any soft tissue work for anything, I don't even take fish oil at this time anymore.

My warm ups are just lighter sets of the movement I'm doing.

Best thing I've ever done for my shoulders is get my rear delts strong. Cable flies, reverse pec deck, DB raises, cable rows, DB seated cleans, etc etc etc. The stronger your rear delts the better your shoulders will feel.

I also stopped benching so much. My chest genetics aren't horrid, I can get away with awful bench #'s and limited frequency. But it is either bench a lot or hit shoulders a lot, it can't be both.

I will also shorten my ROM. On presses I only come down to clavicle on the days I can, and my raises stop before I hit a "T" like shape.

Above all else is listening to your body. It takes a ton for me to get DOMS in my delts, so if my shoulders are sore, I assume it is tendon/joint soreness and not good soreness and back off for awhile. I will be 32 in 90 days or so, and a father again in 60. I want to set a good example for my child and be able to do this, and get stronger and bigger, for a long time. My focus has to be on longevity rather than quick results at this point.

That probably doesn't answer any of your questions.

na man that does help, I've also dropped pressing down to just once a week, and am focusing much more on my rear delts. I think I'll start doing light lateral raises with strict form before going to the heavier ones with a little English.

Now you mention it, I don't think I've ever had DOMS in my delts. Never really thought about it before. I wonder why my legs and chest are always aching but my shoulders never are.

If you wan't DOMS in your delts, try overhead squats. I had DOMS like never before after doing them, it took me ages to work out what the hell i'd done to myself.
What if the Hokey Cokey really IS what it's all about?

heh, if I tried to do an overhead squat I'd end up with DOMS in my glutes from where I'd crashed down onto my arse. Don't have anywhere near the flexibility required for that.

everything alright with you Erick? You've not logged a workout in a while, and I remember you saying something about getting tests done at a hospital. Hope everything's ok

Yeah man. Thanks for the concern.

Am I okay? Yeah. But things aren't right. I'm trying to get it fixed, but having problems with a DR that has her head up her ass.

I'll be writing up a decent description once I have some more answers. Right now it is all speculation and emotional responses to $h1t healthcare.

Hey, Erick. I hear you about US health care. I hope things get better for you quickly. If you care to share more details, I'll react as best I can, given that I can't see you, and that I don't know everything. If you'd rather PM, that's OK, too.

Really good to hear from you again Erick.

When I get time (Yr End, you know how that is), I'll read more about those big words you dropped.

Congrats on new baby!
