Sorry about posting in announcements. I thought if you didn't already know, you might want to and that seemed more sensible than in one of the other topics. I made the avatar a different part of the same statue.
I suspect the problem is permissions, so a chmod at the hosting service might make a difference. (Or not.) But the link option worked fine.
Thanks for hosting.

Re: Diet Aids
Tia,callipygian50 wrote:Hi,
I recently started working out mixing cardio and strength training. I'm making good progress losing weight. But naturally, I've been reading lots of diet advice and I was wondering if anyone has advice on various diet aids.
I'm interested in something separate from food and exercise advice. I know no diet aid works without attending to food and exercise, but I was wondering whether any of the various diet aids touted works for you people and whether you are concerned about the side effects.
TIA.
One of the most effective is the Ephedrine-Caffeine-Asprin mix. http://www.worldwidehealthcenter.net/articles-130.html
Ephedrine can still be purchased as Primatene on line. It appears you can also purchase Bronkaid. Your limited to the amount you can purchase at one time.
Caffeine can be ingested via coffee or by purchasing caffeine tablets. You can find them at most health food stores.
Asprin, no problem there.

albuterol is pretty good. However you need the controlled release tablets. They are available from online pharmacies in India. You will probably need increasing amounts of taurine (a very cheap easy to get supplement) to prevent muscle cramps. Having the shakes a little bit is usually unavoidable.
T3 of course works great. However that is for experienced folks only. It can be dangerous and has side effects which must be closely monitored. Starting and stopping is complicated too.
Then of course there is the usual caveat that these things do not cause weight loss. They just augment diet and exercise. They can speed it up and/or make up for your genetic shortcomings.
If you can continue to lose weight by lowering carbs to 20 a day and then lowering calories a little at a time, plus exercise, you don't need drugs. It's only when you get to the point where further decreases in eating result only in tiredness, hunger and decreased exercise capacity that you need drugs. So if you aren't a bodybuilder with poor genetics, you almost certainly don't need drugs.

I agree that albuterol is pretty good. I never used the time released albuterol and it did just fine.
That last I heard, you need a prescription for albuterol.
So, where can you get albuterol without a prescription...website, etc?
Albuterol definitely ramps up you metabolism, as ephedrine. However, I never got the shakes when taking albuterol. You will probably need increasing amounts of taurine (a very cheap easy to get supplement) to prevent muscle cramps. Having the shakes a little bit is usually unavoidable.

The brokaide with caffeine is what someone has mentioned elsewhere. I don't think he mentioned the aspirin.
I hadn't heard of the others. But I'm always curious, so I'm going to read a bit. Since I actually managed to lose weight, my friends always ask me what worked for me. (I'm never sure what worked for me can work for them for various reasons. One is just won't lift weights and won't really push themselves exercising, and don't want to spend time. But the other is, a few may actually have slower restingmetabolism or poor glucose control, and mine are both fine. )
Anyway, I'm not planning to take these things. I'm happy with my weight loss. At 133lb, 5'4", some people might think I need to lose weight, but I don't.
I was able to zip my size 4 jeans and sit comfortably. So, I think I'm ok. :)

Larry Hobbs does research for bariatric medical doctors (obesity doctors) on medication. The ECA (Ephedrine/Caffeine/Asprin) mix is one of the best formulas their is, as per Hobbs.
It is also still "street legal". Although you are limited on ephedrine purchases.
Albuterol is a sibling to ephedrine. I doubt you can get you hand on it without a prescription.I hadn't heard of the others. But I'm always curious, so I'm going to read a bit.
I have used albuterol. My wife at the time came down with asthma and was given a prescription albuterol by a general practitioner medical doctor.
She went specialist. He prescribed another medication for her.
I then ripped off her albuterol and used it. So, I have some "hands on experience" with it.
I doubt the many of those posting have much if any "hand on experience" with this stuff. Which means I can give some some first hand experience with some of this stuff.
T3 meds are thyroid medications, like cytomel. I tried that but never got anything out of it.
However, it worked well for a friend of mine.
T3 meds require a prescription. And with any thyroid medication either you need to know what your doing or you need to have someone advising you who does know.
As Ironman stated, "that is for experience folks"...
I agree with the low carb approach. I lost weight with the Metabolic Diet. Low carbs for 5-6 days and the carb load for 1-2 two days.
A few weeks ago, I had some dental work done. I had to have a tooth pulled.
The dentist told me no oily foods for 3 days. I have yet to understand that.
I'd thought about trying the Sillman "Quick Weight Loss" Diet to drop a few more pounds. Stillman is low car and low fat. So, I did Stillman for about 6 days.
I ended up dropping about 3 lbs and have kept the weight off. Something for you to consider.
We are more alike than not alike. That why medications work for the majority of the populations...as does training, diet, etc.Since I actually managed to lose weight, my friends always ask me what worked for me. (I'm never sure what worked for me can work for them for various reasons. One is just won't lift weights and won't really push themselves exercising, and don't want to spend time. Thus, more than likely what works for you will work for someone else.
If we were all that different, a new meidication would need to be invented for each person when they became sick...same thing with training, diet, etc.
Unfortunately, hoosegow (who post here) could NOT fit into his "Lard Ass Jeans" if you sprayed him with WD-40 first.Anyway, I'm not planning to take these things. I'm happy with my weight loss. At 133lb, 5'4", some people might think I need to lose weight, but I don't.

The good news is no matter how big you are, if you have a picture taken with hoosegow, other quickly comment on how small and thin you are...it worked for me!

As do I, since I've got exercise-induced asthma. I typically used an albuterol inhaler to halt attacks or as a preventative. I never tried it as a fat-loss protocol, however. The idea isn't crazy, though, even on the surface.Kenny Croxdale wrote:I doubt the many of those posting have much if any "hand on experience" with this stuff. In my case, albuterol had one side effect - increased heart rate. That eventually led me to stop using it pre-workout as a preventative dosage, and instead I just carried it for emergencies.
It's legal but you need a prescription here in the US. I'm also certain that some sports leagues ban its usage - lots of my athletic buddies would hit me up about getting my inhalers off me so they could use them pre-game. I needed them for the more important usage of "not dying" so I held onto them. :)

That was my understanding, as well.pdellorto wrote:Pdellorto,Kenny Croxdale wrote:I doubt the many of those posting have much if any "hand on experience" with this stuff. Which means I can give some some first hand experience with some of this stuff.
I stand corrected.

Increasing heart rate is one of the characteristics of albuterol.

Taking oral salbuteral and taking an inhaler are fairly different, in terms of blood levels. The inhaler concentrates it in the lungs (where an asthmatic needs high concentrations) compared to the rest of the body. With oral, the levels in the whole body are higher, so the side effects overall are more severe. I assume that if one is using it for weight loss that high systemic levels are what's needed. In fact, it's hard to get lung levels high enough using the tablets without getting unacceptable side effects, which is why it isn't used much.
