I know this is probably the stupidest question Im ever gonna ask on here, but is milk healthy? does anyone drink milk daily? does anyone think milk is bad? Ive read a lot of debates on it and am very curious

Its not a stupid question. The answer is that yes it is healthy. How you use it and how they fit into your goals can be an issue. It makes me nausiated, so I don't drink it, but there is no problem with it.

drink up that milk! If you can handle the lactose then drink a gallon of it every day. Unless you're fat, then don't. If you're skinny then get gulping.

It also does basically the same job as a protein shake after the gym, a quart of milk after a workout is very good indeed

milk is good for bulking up..... but you might as well just get whey. That comes from milk. The down side to milk is the lactose, which is a simple sugar. It's good for bulking or for growing baby cows, but it can make some people fatter.

I pour milk on breakfast cereal everyday and try to get 3 servings of dairy everyday. I use yogurt for snacks, smoothies and most other drinks. Yogurt is lower glycemic than milk, so that might be better for keeping my blood sugar on a more even keel, though I've never monitored so I can't say for sure. I do use milk for night time hot chocolate.

If you can tolerate the lactose, why not? It's an easy source of a lot of extra calories when you're bulking up.

I'm lactose intolerant and at least mildly allergic* to milk. If I wasn't, I'd definitely drink it when I'm trying to gain weight. It's easy calories, no fuss (whey protein is fine, but then you need to mix it up all the time, which equals "fuss"), and you can easily get in some milk on top of whatever you eat instead of drinking water with your meal.

If it works for you, it's all good, anti-milk websites aside. If not, skip it, GOMAD success stories be dammed. It's all if it works for you or not.


* Yes, I know it's "rare." But I'm talking swelling, hives, difficulty breathing, etc. plus headaches and rashes for lower doses. I'm pretty sure that means "allergy."

I have a friend who is allergic to cassein and albumin. So, no milk and eggs. She's allergic to tons of other stuff too. (Cats, miscellaneous plants, wool, alpaca.... I think if you can be allergic to it, she mostly is. Luckily no celiac!)
