I never thought about the threads. I priced it out today and it would be over $100 to build a pair, not counting plates. I could probably buy commercial ones cheaper. Certainly a pair of triceps bars would cost about the same.
This might be a better design.

Farmer's walks. 2011 was the year of the Turkish Get Up. 2012 will be the year of the Farmer's Walk.

Those look do-able. I've thought of several designs. I weld a little bit, and have some friends who weld more, so most of my ideas involve welding. If I can find the speed-bolt, I could make these.

Does anyone use deadlift socks? Are they the ultimate solution to the problem of skinned-up shins? I've added them to my wish list.

I've never tried them but I have some soccer socks that would do the job. Soccer socks are usually easier to find and cheaper than deadlift socks, the just have a Nike logo instead of Metal.

Well, several of the weight supply places sell them, supposedly have a slicker surface than other socks. I saw some, was ordering anyway, so I threw them in. Let's hear it for impulse buying! I'll review them in a few weeks.
