Energy systems required for Netball.

Post by Ridgegrove » Wed Mar 20, 2013 8:02 am

Hi, Im studying exercise physiology at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia.

I have a question about Netball.

What percentage of energy systems are required for Netball players?!

Im writing up an assignment in exercise prescription and also need to include references.

I saw that this page has a list of energy systems required for different sport..but not netball.

Help anyone?!

Thanks

Okay.
Think for yourself. It isn't hard to figure out what kind of energy system this game mostly needs, if you understand the concept of energy systems. What is different in lets say, aerobic exercising and training to improve your explosiveness? I don't like the percentage game, I think it's not that obvious to state that something like hockey or basket ball will take 0 aerobic capacity but something like 80 of PC -stores. It's not that black and white in real life.

Second, do you know what netball is? I didn't, but I looked it up. It doesn't differ much from many of the ball games like BASKET BALL or Hand ball. So maybe you can get a tip from there?

This does sound a little bit like the "will you guys please do my homework for me" kind of questions that we get now and then. Like Dub said, other than looking silly, netball isn't much different than basketball.

For those of you who haven't googled it yet, netball is basketball without a backboard behind the basket, and you aren't allowed to move once you have the ball in your possession. You run, then have to stop as you catch a passed ball. I don't think the basket is as high as basketball. Looks really strange for a person who is used to seeing basketball at least when seeing it for the first time. It is one sport where PNG does well in international competition (including the Olympics). The women's team. I never see anything on the news about men's netball.
